About Emma
Emma is an experienced Educational Psychologist who has worked with Local Authorities in Scotland and England. This role has involved assessment, consultation, intervention, training and research for young people and families, Educational Establishments and Local Authorities for the 0 to 25 year old population. Using person centred, solution focused and neuro affirming approaches in her work Emma has worked tirelessly to ensure inclusion and wellbeing for the youngster’s she supports. She also works as part of a multi agency team to assess autism in young people.
Emma’s approach to therapy and client work
- Support for young people in relation to managing anxiety through group work for young people. Why group work? We learn from other people and it’s great to know we are not alone in finding something difficult. Anxiety is a universal emotion and at times it can take over and stop us from doing the activities we need to. If you need to take control of anxiety this is the place for you.
- Emotionally Based School Avoidance assessment. More and more young people are struggling within the education system. Not feeling able to be in school is a complex issue and having analysis around the factors that contribute is helpful when making plans to get engaged in education again. Whether you are stuck in a rut of not attending or seeing signs that school is becoming a difficult environment to manage it’s always the right time to find change.
- Consultation with families about anxiety and/ or EBSA. If you are a parent worried about your child in relation to EBSA or anxiety you can feel isolated and unsure of where to find help. Chatting through the concerns you have can help you identify pathways to a more hopeful future.
